Forest School has been a truly special experience for both of my kids. It’s a place where they can explore, unleash their creativity, and grow more independent, all while being nurtured and supported. One of my children was part of the very first cohort while he was in preschool and has returned every summer since. It remains one of his absolute favorite places, for all these reasons. I can’t recommend the experience highly enough! Katie, parent
Little House in the Forest is excited to be offering a weekly after school Forest Arts & Crafts Club for a small group of 6 - 12 year olds!
When children are able to freely express the many ‘languages’ of art, it is a truly joyful experience for them. At the club we will follow the children’s lead, drawing inspiration from nature's pallet. The children will be encouraged to explore their inquiries into these different ‘languages’, and the topics they are curious about.
During the first few sessions the children will be introduced to different art and craft mediums and skills (paint, clay, print, fabric, natural materials, bush crafts etc) and brainstorm to plan for a project they will work on over the course of the remaining sessions. They might choose to create a multi media nature journal or book, making their own paints, charcoal and paper from clays, muds and plants, developing bush craft skills, simple woodworking projects, sculpting with clay and wire, or designing and sewing a stuffed creature for a forest puppet show.
The sessions will take place in our inspirational outdoor Forest School ‘classrooms’, our little indoor art studio, and our cosy bell tent. As well as working on our creative projects, there will be ample unstructured time in the forest, and the children may wish to use their artistic skills and .materials to create props for their play.
