Our cabin (the Little House) is now open for an exciting new program!
Imagine a curriculum that is driven by your child’s questions, curiosity and interests. This dream program provides ideal enrichment for home/unschooled children. Inspired by Self-Directed and Agile Learning Centers, we are here to provide the love, environment, support and resources for our learners to direct their own educational journey, in community.
Each day will start with a group planning session to determine the projects learners wish to pursue. We aim to deeply understand your child's learning styles, passions and needs, so that we can provide the resources and assistance to meet their learning goals, both individually and as a team. Points of reflection are woven in at the middle and end of the day, so learning is reinforced, and what happens next starts to emerge.

Amy Plant and Katherine Hales are the primary facilitators, and will work on alternate days. Between them they have around 30 years of experience working with children and have varied skills and approaches to share with the learners. The Little House (cabin) will provide the hub for the program, and learners will have access to the art studio, bell tent, vegetable garden, and acres of forest that surround us.
Amy: Tuesdays: Focus on developing the Big Ideas (long term projects that cross academic areas) with children. Planning together and researching topics of curiosity. Collaborative projects, such as creating a publication or an event together. Arts, crafts and handwork. History and Humanities. Children’s Rights. Social, emotional skills, Story creation, theatre and music. Outdoor play time, hiking, homesteading and bush craft skills.
Katherine: Thursdays: Nature studies, including nature journalling. Crafting with natural materials. Science based research. Geography and map making etc. Yoga and mindfullness. Outdoor play time, hiking, homesteading and bush craft skills. Social, emotional skills, Story creation, theatre and music.
The facilitators will meet between sessions to discuss developments and help plan for future experiences.
Special guest experts will be invited, and field trips will be arranged in accordance with the interests, studies, and needs of the learners.
